63rd Christmas on Las Olas

I’m so excited to share that the 63rd Annual Christmas on Las Olas is just around the corner — and if you’re thinking of joining, you’re in for a spectacular evening. The event takes place on Las Olas Boulevard in Fort Lauderdale, from 5:00 PM to 10:00 PM on Tuesday December 2nd.

Walking along the boulevard between SE 6th Avenue and SE 11th Avenue, you’ll feel the holiday spirit in full force — businesses decked out in lights, live performances, activities for all ages, and a whole lot of community cheer.

Here’s what I’m most looking forward to — and what you should plan for, too.

Highlights

  • Live performances: There will be more than 30 local schools and organizations performing throughout the evening on multiple stages.
  • Snow Mountain sledding: Yep — real snow and sleds, at what’s called the “Snow Mountain”. Great fun especially if you’re bringing kids (or just feeling playful).
  • Ice skating rink: A free ice rink with skate rentals — perfect for those wanting to do something a bit different than the usual holiday stroll.
  • Santa’s Village & family photos: Meet Santa, get holiday snapshots, and capture some memories along the boulevard.
  • 60+ vendors: From local businesses with special offers, holiday treats, and maybe a gift or two you can pick up while you’re enjoying the event.
  • Festive ambiance: The entire boulevard will be transformed — lights, décor, music — it’s an evening that really feels like the holidays have arrived.

My Top Tips for Attending

  1. Arrive early — To get the best parking or vantage point for the stages. Since it starts at 5:00 PM, aim to be there a bit earlier so you’re not scrambling.
  2. Wear comfortable shoes — You’ll be walking the boulevard (from 6th Ave to 11th Ave) and possibly standing for music or waiting in lines for activities.
  3. Have a game plan — Maybe pick one or two must-see performances, one vendor you want to visit, and a photo location (Santa’s Village or Snow Mountain).
  4. Bring layers — It’s Florida, but evenings can get cooler; plus if you’ll ice skate you might want something a little warmer.
  5. Budget for food & treats — Though the event is free, vendor food & drinks might have cost, especially if you want a nice snack or holiday-themed drink.
  6. Capture the moment — Bring your phone/camera. The lights + wall-to-wall holiday décor make for great photos.
  7. Pick a meeting spot — If you’re going with friends or family, crowds will be big. Choose a landmark (e.g., one of the stages) to regroup if you split up.
  8. Parking & transportation — Since the boulevard is closed for the event, consider alternate transport (rideshare) or secure a spot ahead of time.
  9. Check vendor/promos — Some vendors may have special holiday discounts or giveaways. Worth browsing early.
  10. Stay until closing — The festive vibe remains strong until 10 PM. If you time it right, you’ll catch everything — performances, activities, and maybe a calm stroll home after.

What I’m Most Excited About

For me, the Snow Mountain sledding and the ice rink are the standout experiences — I can't hardly wait to glide (or at least attempt to LOL!) on the ice, and I’ve always adored seeing real snow in Florida! Plus, strolling down the beautifully decked-out boulevard, maybe with a hot drink in hand, feeling the holiday spirit… it just hits differently.

I’m also excited about discovering local vendors I haven’t seen before, and picking up a unique holiday gift or two while enjoying the festivities.

Final Thought

If you’re on the fence about going — Just GO. It’s one evening, but the experience is designed to usher in the holiday season with joy, community and fun. Whether you’re with family, friends or going solo, you’ll find something to delight in. Let yourself soak up the lights, the music, the laughter.

And if you go — let me know! Maybe we can compare favorite moments afterwards.

Hope to see you there — happy holidays already!
