Apple Picking at Mercier Orchards

Apple Picking at Mercier Orchards

There’s something about fall in Blue Ridge, Georgia that always calls my name — the mountain breeze, the changing leaves, and the cozy, small-town charm. This year, I’m planning a day trip to one of Blue Ridge’s most beloved spots: Mercier Orchards. I’ve heard so many wonderful stories about it, and I can already picture the rolling hills filled with apple trees and the sound of laughter drifting through the crisp autumn air.

Event Dates & Details

Mercier Orchards’ Apple U-Pick season will run from August through early November 2025, depending on the weather and fruit availability. I plan to go around mid-September, when the trees are full and the mountain colors start to show.

Here’s what I’m expecting:

  • U-Pick Hours: Monday–Thursday from 10 AM to 4 PM, and Friday–Sunday from 9 AM to 4:30 PM.

  • Admission: Around $15 per person, which includes your picking container.

  • Location: 8660 Blue Ridge Dr., Blue Ridge, GA 30513.

They say there are more than 40 apple varieties to choose from — which sounds like a delicious adventure waiting to happen!

What I’m Looking Forward To:

  1. The tractor ride through the orchard
I’m already imagining hopping onto the tractor wagon that will carry visitors through the orchard rows. I’ll take a deep breath of that clean mountain air, watch the sunlight bounce off the apples, and just take in the view. It’ll be the kind of peaceful, grounding experience that’s hard to find anywhere else.

  2. Picking and tasting apples straight from the tree
I can’t wait to walk through the orchard and discover my favorite apple variety — maybe a sweet Fuji or a tart Granny Smith. I’ll probably taste one right off the branch, still warm from the sun. There’s something so simple yet rewarding about harvesting something with your own hands.

  3. Stopping by the bakery and market
Everyone says you can’t leave Mercier Orchards without trying their fried apple pies. So, I plan to reward myself with one (or two) after picking. I’ll also check out their cider, jams, and other local goodies — perfect souvenirs to bring back home.

  4. Enjoying the mountain scenery
Blue Ridge’s landscape is part of what makes this experience so special. The orchard sits surrounded by the Blue Ridge Mountains, creating the kind of postcard-perfect view that makes you pause and think: This is what life should feel like.

I know as a real estate agent, apple picking and real estate might sound like completely different worlds — but the more I think about it, the more I see the connection.

Location, location, location.
Just like Mercier Orchards draws visitors because of its stunning surroundings, a home’s location is what gives it character and long-term value. Living near places like this — where you can enjoy seasonal activities and outdoor adventures — adds a lifestyle element you can’t put a price tag on.

Timing matters.
The best apples are picked at just the right time. Real estate works the same way — knowing when to buy, sell, or invest can make all the difference.

Experience adds value.
Mercier isn’t just an orchard; it’s an experience. The tractor rides, bakery, and family-friendly atmosphere make it more than a place — it’s a memory maker. Homes can be like that too. It’s not just about the walls and roof, but about the moments they’ll hold.

Caring for the land.
Mercier encourages “picking responsibly,” which makes me think of how important it is to care for your property. Whether it’s maintaining a home, landscaping a yard, or respecting the community, good stewardship always pays off.

Plan for the Day

I’ll arrive early to beat the crowds, wear my comfy boots, and bring my camera — because I already know the mountain views will be stunning. After a morning of picking, I’ll grab lunch in downtown Blue Ridge and maybe check out a few homes nearby — because, honestly, every time I visit, I fall a little more in love with the idea of living here full-time.

Final Thoughts

I can’t wait to experience Mercier Orchards this fall. Between the fresh mountain air, the joy of picking my own fruit, and the feeling of being surrounded by nature, it’ll be a day to remember. And who knows — maybe while I’m there, I’ll stumble upon a charming cabin or a cozy property nearby that captures that same magic.

Because whether it’s the perfect apple or the perfect home, the best finds always share one thing in common: they make you feel like you’re right where you’re meant to be.
